On
January 1, 2004, the federal Personal Information Protection and Electronic
Documents Act came into effect. It provides that organizations may collect, use
or disclose personal information in the course of commercial transactions. The
collection of some personal information about our members is essential to our
being able to provide notices and information on functions and to attract
potential new members. We need accurate information about our members to enable
us to give the best possible service.
The
Society for American Wines policy is that we will continue to maintain the
accuracy, confidentiality and security of all personal information to the best
of our ability. We assure you that we have not and will not provide any outside
organization with personal information about our members.
The
Society for American Wines will continue with the policy of mailing and sending
electronic notices and our Newsletter to members and others interested in the
Society and its objectives until such time as a member advises us that they no
longer wish to be on our mailing list.
